History of Coffee

The history of coffee spans multiple periods. The history of coffee starts with ancient times and dates back to the first civilizations of the Near East, although the origin of coffee is still unclear.

It is believed that Ethiopian ancestors of the Oromo peoples who first noticed the stimulating effect of coffee beans. However, no direct evidence on this point, has not survived and the evidence about where in Africa coffee grew or who among Africans would know about the existence of coffee early seventeenth century. According to a widely accepted legend, the discoverer of the unique properties of coffee tree was an Ethiopian shepherd Kaldim approximately 850 a year. Later, the emergence of this legend (1671 ad) and the lack of evidence of Kadima make a number of researchers suggest that the legend is false. From Ethiopia, coffee spread in the countries of Egypt and Yemen. The earliest evidence of coffee drinking dates back to the mid XV century, in the Sufi monasteries of Yemen. By the ninth century coffee was widely spread in Italy, Indonesia and America. From Ethiopia coffee drink spread throughout the Middle East. Originally (about 1200 years), coffee was prepared as a decoction from the dried shell bean. Then there is the idea about frying the shell on the coals. Roasted peel and a small amount of silver skins fell asleep for half an hour in boiling water. Currently, there are over a hundred varieties of coffee. Top grade coffee different strong infusion and aroma. In Europe, it is highly appreciated to the XVIII century. Later on coffee attributed to the number of harmful drinks and only in the XX century, coffee has become popular again. On the place of origin of coffee are divided into three groups: American, African and Asian.
